so, it's been a while

...and here I am saying goodbye to one heck of a year. This has probably been one of the biggest years of my life... so much has happened and begun and changed and... everything!

In 2007 I:
-Graduated from High School in one of the best ceremonies EVER with the coolest group EVER
-Performed in a musical for the first time
-Got to play one of my dream roles
-Finally got to dance onstage
-Saw Wicked
-Moved away and was out on my own for the first time
-Said goodbye to some of the best people in the world
-Met some of the best people in the world
-Traveled to states I had never been to before
-Learned to knit
-Saw the most beautiful bride in history in the wedding that I was a Bridesmaid in and became a Brother-in-law through
-Cried
-Laughed
-Discovered my inner hippie
-Got a job on my own
-Witnessed my first ice storm in Texas!
-Found my twin!
-Fessed up to some things
-Discovered my love for photography and rediscovered my love for musical theatre!
-Went airborn in my thunderbird! (only for a little bit)
-Realized how ignorant I am about a LOT of stuff and how I need to think more
-Visted New Orleans
-Realized how deprived our nation is spiritually
-Was introduced to the Winnie-the-Pooh books and Chai Tea
-Discovered/was introduced to the phenomenons that are Breaking Benjamin, Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, A. A. Milne, and Donald Miller
-learned a LOT

I know that these past several months I haven't kept up or in touch with people that mean a lot to me, and I regret that. I want to put forth a bigger effort to do that this next year. God has blessed me so, so immensly with and through the relationships that I have- both old and new. I'm truly humbled at the fact that I can call you my friends.
I'm realizing more and more that I am nowhere close to where I should be spiritually. God has taught me so, so much this last year and blessed me in more ways than I can even see, but I realize that I havent put forth the effort to be the person He would have me be or know Him like I should. What gets me is that even though I act like anything BUT a child of God, He hasn't given up on me. By this time next year, I would love to be able to say that I am truly walking with God.Glory be to God in the highest.

"Find me here
And speak to me
I want to feel You
I need to hear You
You are the light
That's leading me
To the place
Where I find peace again

You are the strength
That keeps me walking
You are the hope
That keeps me trusting
You are the life
To my soul
You are my purpose
You're everything

And how can I stand here with You
And not be moved by You
Would You tell me how could it be
Any better than this

You calm the storms
And You give me rest
You hold me in your hands
You won't let me fall
You steal my heart
And You take my breath away
Would You take me in
Would You take me deeper, now

And how can I stand here with You
And not be moved by You
Would You tell me how could it be
Any better than this

Cause you're all I want
You're all I need
You're everything, everything
Everything, everything...

When how can I stand here with You
And not be moved by You
Would you tell me how could it be Any better than this
Would You tell me how could it be Any better than this...."

"So I think I'll stay caught up in silent prayer"

As my laundry is currently in the dryer... drying, I thought I would give an update. (I thought I was beginning to develop good updated habits, but apparently not lol)

New Orleans was great! We drove down Saturday morning, got lost (and in turn got a "scenic" look at the slums of the city lol), arrived at the church, ate lunch, then did a workout/mime workshop. It was really interesting (in a good way lol). That night we all crashed on airbeds in one of the fellowship halls (I guess you could call it). The next day we went to church and did some sightseeing. Then of course we got lost on the way home! lol But it was really a lot of fun. We told scary stories on the ride home *muahaha*

So Labor Day! I spent the evening having dinner at a Belhaven Alumni's house, playing Apples to Apples, then capping the night off at Faith's house with some Chai Tea and reading Winnie the Pooh. hehe It's so amazing- this group of theatre majors (Faith, Kailen, Rachel, and Brandon) get together a couple night's a week and dramatically read/narrate books and poetry!! It's so cool.. They inducted me into the club and I got to read for Eeyore that night. Then last wednesday, we started Peter Pan and Wendy :D It is so, so much fun. I've really been blessed by getting to know and have them as friends. They've really made me feel welcome and "at home" here. And I've discovered that Brandon and I are twins. We both love Bernadette Peters, Madalyn Kahn, The Muppets, Foster's home for imaginary friends, musicals, and are indecisive. hehe it's fun.

Last Friday night was the Joshua Squad's Masquerade Ball!! hehe I went as a flamingo :> after the rehearsal I had that night, I went and picked Faith up to take her to the ball cause she needed a ride. So we so-to-speak- "went together"... Well the time of the night came for the prizes to be awarded... Kailen (a cat) and Brandon (a ficus tree) won Best Masked Couple, and then.... *dun dun dun* Faith and I got Cutest Couple (ironic because we arent a couple lol) It was really wierd that we four got the awards lol It was fun :D

God is so, so good. I'm continually blown away by the way He blesses and cares for me... and in SO many ways... I love how He has drawn me closer to Him this past month. I hope that continues...

Anyway- I'm going to go check on my laundry. If I dont post pictures on here, I'll upload them onto photobucket so everyone can see them all. I wanna take some pictures of my room too so I'll plaster those on here too....

I love and miss you all!!!!!!!!

"Out one day, walking one day; out one day with you, Hallelujah!"

Ooh da la leh! Alot has happened since I last posted!!
Classes are going very well so far. Not TOO much homework yet, and in some I'm ahead with the assignments (as I found out today), so that's always good! lol I really enjoy all my professors (some more than others, but enjoyable non-the-less) lol My favorites is definatly Dr. Lou though (he teaches biomechanics). He's such a classy, fun gentleman, and his insight is so incredible. I'm thinking about auditing Biomechanics for my next three years lol It's so much fun.
and for those of you who are confused as to what Biomechanics is, it's a class focusing on the body and how to use it as a performer. It covers detailed anatomy, posture, breathing, massage technique, acrobatics, stage combat, fencing, trapeze work (!!!), and really just learning about God's design for our bodies and how to properly take care of them. Even if it is at 8:00 in the morning, it's more than worth it. (And everyone will get an occipital scrub when I see you again! hehe be afraid :D)
This last Friday I went and auditioned for the music department's production of The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan (same guys who did The Pirates of Penzance). The initial audition was for singing, then the call backs dealt with acting and how well our voices "meshed" with each other. I ended up getting a call back, and going back on Monday and Tuesday. After the session on Tuesday, Dr. Shelt (the prof. heading it up) announced the cast list and...... *dun dun* I GOT THE PART OF LUIZ!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a supporting role, and I'm technically only in two scenes, but the character has alot of significance in the play and I get to sing a love duet!!! I am SO excited!!! It's so humbling and exciting at the same time to see what God can do... I'm so grateful to Him :D We had the read-through of the script last night, and we start rehearsals on Tuesday, so I'll probably be posting about them...
OOH!! One more thing! This weekend, I'm going to New Orleans with the Joshua Squad!! We're going to meet members of a differenct sect of the squad, workout, perform (I THINK), sight-see etc. It should be a lot of fun. Dr. Lou and several other of my friends from the theatre dept. are going. I'll take/post pics when we get back!
Anyway! Sorry for the long post here!! lol
I love and miss you all!!!!

So last night deserves a post.

So get this: After dinner a group of us went to the Caldwell dorm lobby to play spoons and watch a movie. Well, eventually someone turned The Ring on, and Amy, Abigail, Erin, Alex and I didnt want to watch it so we ended up sitting in the conference room in the student center (very nice room, btw) watching The Little Mermaid!!!! It was amazing :D hehe We all sang along to some of the songs and talked about Ariel's hair. It was so much fun :D
I just got back from my English Composition class in which I found out I may be moved to an 8am class instead because the group is so big lol goody goody............
anyway- just had to tell everyone about last night :D hehe
off to Choir!
Love ya'll

"We're only taking turns"

well, I'm bored so I thought I'd post.
Today is the last day of our fresheman orientation!! Classes start tomorrow at 9:25 for me! I THINK I've got everything squared away.
Yesterday we had a road trip to Twin Lakes and a night of bowling (got a 96!!). Afterwards a group of us hung out in the student center for a while learning a hip hop routine just for the heck of it lol pretty cool...
So today I've been gettting some last minute things out of the way for classes tomorrow, just finished plugging in the fridge in my room, and I'm currenly updating this and watching a corny Pops cereal commercial on the TV next to me!! woot! lol Been getting a little homesick, especially in the mornings and right before I go to bed, but I'm doing ok :D I think it'll get better once classes start and I get more into a definate schedule.
OOH! And auditions for the Gondoliers operetta are this Friday!!
Also today there were abunch of tables set up in the student center representing the different organizations around campus and all. I signed up for a swing/ballroom dance club called "Phi Theta Swinga' " and the Joshua Squad which is a theatre ministry club delving into mime/physical theatre. It looks SO cool!! There's a "boot camp" for the squad this Saturday that I'm going to go to, so I'll be writing about that no doubt. lol
I think I'll finish my pop tart then do some reading....
love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!

Stardate 820-blhvn

So! This is my first post pertaining to my life as a Blazer/havenite (as we are called). I'll do my best not to bore anyone with these posts lol

Anyway! Yesterday was an ice cream social for all the theatre majors (freshman and returning students). It was very enlightening and encouraging to know that there are other people on this campus who randomly talk in funny voices, burst forth into song, and give each other big bear hugs when they see each other. I'm so, so excited to start my theatre classes and get to know them better. Afterwards the RAs lead a worship/prayer service in the chapel (apparently a BLAZE tradition). Then in the flex theatre (short for flexible theatre) we all watched Spiderman 3 on a big screen that was set up. It was pretty sweet :D

When I bought my textbooks today, I discovered that those of us in the Theatre Biomechanics class get to wear these amazing uniforms:

(I apologize for the urinals in the background lol) I've pretty much decided that I'll be wearing it outside of class as well...
*funky french accent* It makes me feel seeexy...

hehe Anyway- I'm off to the square dance soon (you've GOT to love Belhaven), and tomorrow we have a road trip to Twin Lakes... at 8:30 in the morning. lol fun fun fun
love ya'll

"One thrilling combination, every move that she makes..."

I miss a Century of Broadway.
egad, do I miss it.
I miss all the fast costume changes, I miss doing the warm-ups before the show started, I miss waiting in the wings to do Steam Heat, I miss hearing the audience cheer when we struck our pose in "one", I miss the sign language in "All Good Gifts", I miss putting my handcuffs on at the back of the auditorium before "Ragtime", I miss hearing the middle schoolers sing "Hair" while I was franctically changing into my phantom costume, I miss seeing Nicole and Shelley waiting to come on stage as we were exiting after ragtime, I miss walking up the steps and through the curtains into the blinding light as we began the opening medley, I miss the jazz squares, I miss seeing PT posed at the top of the stairwell right before "Beautiful Mornin", I miss all the pizza lunch breaks, I miss the intermissions....
I miss hanging out backstage with my fellow cast members :'( *sigh*
lol sorry guys... I was just reminiscing this morning about the play and realized just how much I miss it....
But there will be others! And there will be others with Ya'll, I know ;)

Anyway! Joey says "hi" to everyone! lol
I love you guys ;)
